By Robbin Miller, LRC Table of ContentsIntroductionWelcome
to the directory for resources on disability services and needs. This directory
can be used by any individual with or without a disability and by service
providers who work or interact with people with disabilities or whom are
interested in reading this information. This directory is especially designed
for the 18-59 years old group because of the lack of resources for their
disability needs. However, I did
include some resource information for children with special needs and for
elders. I
am doing this directory as a service to my community. As a TV talk show host of Miller Chat (shown on Channel 33 in
Shrewsbury and on Channel 13 in Worcester), I want to give my viewers and
members of the community information on the various services for people with
disabilities in Worcester and surrounding towns. For the last four years, since I have worked with people with
disabilities and service providers, I have found that many people just don't
know what information is available on disability services. Information seems to be scattered in many
other resources and are not specific to disability needs. Furthermore, this
directory will not include nursing homes, adult day care centers, and places
for rehabilitation because one's primary care doctor is in charge of referring
his/her clients there. This directory
will include more services for independent living and not on sickness and
disease management. This
resource guide will provide different categories of various services in
Massachusetts and will include a number of websites addresses. The lists of places mentioned are not
endorsements or recommendations to use their services. Anyone using the resources in this directory
is on their own in calling for information, hours of availability, inquiry for
services offered in different languages, and for TTY telephone numbers and
websites. Information
will be complied from various sources and will be posted at the end of the
directory. If
any information is not correct, please let me know and I will make immediate
changes for the next directory distribution. If
you want a hard copy of this directory, there will be a charge of $ 1.00 per
page plus mailing costs. If you want to talk to me about my directory, you can email me at RMillerChat@aol.com. This Directory is available in alternative formats by request. Thank
you and enjoy reading and using the information presented. Sincerely, Back to TopAdvocacy
